The Slovenian veteran has yet to say the last word

“If I persevered for a long time, I will also be there this season, bringing the world championship back. I invested a lot in joining again. If I qualified for the championship and the team match, I would have fulfilled my wishes. But I would certainly be happy even if I could reach the giant,” Maja Vetic, the oldest member of the Slovenian jump team, says ahead of the upcoming winter season.

Zoran Zubancic: goals high, medals in WC, repeat wins in the Nations Cup

Snowboarders are quickly gearing up for the new winter competition, which will start in Wisla in a good two weeks, as both girls and boys will compete for the first time in the World Cup on a combination of ice skates and a plastic landing pad.

Among those who eagerly look forward to winter – whose beginning for girls comes sooner than they used to in the past – is also a seasoned Slovenian. Maja Ftech.

« I think we all can’t wait to get started. The transition to snowboarding is not a big deal for me, I don’t need a lot of time to adapt. Personally, I like snowboarding better. Looking forward to the transition, so that it smells at least a little in the winter (laughs, op.a.) Regarding the combination with a plastic landing pad…we know what it was like at Wisla when the guys were having problems landing. From this point of view it might be better to put a plastic under it. Also, a jump Skiing is a little uncomfortable there, as far as running, because it’s a « contraband », so stop, especially in winter, at the first snowfall it’s a little more difficult. Plastic doesn’t bother me, ”the 34-year-old thinks about starting the World Cup . who competed at this level for the first time on a girls’ show for the first time in over a decade – in December 2011.

« I was talking recently to an Austrian jumper about how strong our team is and that if you put together the team you can be confident because it means you’re well prepared, you’ve shown something. »

He hopes to secure a place on the team in WC and be nominated for the Giants

Not spared from injuries in the past, Dolenjka says she hasn’t said the last word yet. Next season is very tempting. The highlight will be the World Championships on home soil, and some of the jumpers will be flying in Norway as well. So enthusiasm and motivation to persevere for at least another year is enough. “If I persevere for a long time, I will also be there this season, which will bring the World Cup. I have invested a lot in joining again. I just hope somehow I can build on what I am missing, and then we will see in real time, how it goes, and make decisions Gradual about the future,” says the 37th jumper last winter (there were six Nationals before her), who is well aware of the fierce competition at the women’s camp in Slovenia. There will be no room for everyone in this landscape in Planica.

“Recently I was talking to one of our Austrian show jumpers about how strong our team is and that if you put together the team you can be confident because that means you are well prepared, you showed something. It is definitely my main goal being the World Championships in Blanica. If I qualify there and in the team competition, I will make my wishes come true, that’s what I want. But for sure I will be very happy even if I can reach the giants. »

Aren’t you afraid of that? “I wish I was in such a state of readiness that I would be able to compete in the 15th round on the Raw-Air round (the first 15 in the round total would be able to fly in Vikersund, ref. A) and that I would even get a chance to go to the Giant It would be a little awkward if you finished 16 or 17 and missed a place in the race a little bit.”

Ema Klinec became the world champion in the intermediate machine, Nika Križnar finished third in the high jump, and there were others in the team’s test (Klinec, Križnar, Urša Bogataj and Špela Rogelj).

More than satisfied with the summer Rasnov

Vteseva won World Cup points in individual events six times at the World Cup last year, her highest being 13th at Henzenbach, and once with the team she jumped to third place. Last summer’s Grand Prix season, she competed only in Rasnov, where she took seventh, and Klingenthal, where she took 18th.

« I was quite satisfied with the summer performances, somehow upping my jumps since July. I jumped really hard in the match in Rasnov, and I was more satisfied with those jumps. Less so with the jumps at Klingenthal, where the result wasn’t too bad in terms of jumps, I hope I build on what I think I miss in October, and then start the new season,” he says of the summer part of the season, and when asked about the biggest room for improvement he answers: “I still have a bit of spare in the bounce, and therefore also in the flying phase. Whenever the jump is done Even better, it was easier to enter the flying stage. But if there are errors, it will be carried forward and the jump is not what it could be.”

The World Cup season in Poland will begin on the first weekend of November (4-6 November).
